Many of our native animals are hollow-dependent, meaning they rely entirely on natural cavities for shelter, breeding, and survival. Planting trees is vital for our future environment, but nature moves slowly. It takes over 100 years for a tree to form even a small hollow, and up to 250 years to develop the larger ones required by bigger species.
Many areas are absent of old-growth trees, and planting trees today doesn’t bridge this century-long gap.
Installing nest-boxes attracts local wildlife back sooner, providing safe, immediate habitat while your new trees grow to maturity.
